Gold Rush Days in Old Sacramento, the uncontested champion of family fun, adventure, and activities for kids is back and scheduled for Labor Day Weekend!
Gold Rush Days 2010 - Old Sacramento
As is traditional, the streets will be closed and more than 200 tons of dirt will be dumped on the streets of Old Sac. Cars will be directed to the garages and the only traffic you will see will be pedestrian, horse, and carriage. Gold Rush Days “turns back the clock,” and transforms Sacramento’s historic district into a scene straight out of the 1850s. Lots of people visit in period clothing, so it’s always a surprise when actors emerge from the crowds to re-enact Wild West gun fights, play period instruments, and dispute gold claims.
If you are bringing children to the festival the Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt will be running in full swing, but we also recommend that you stop by the Sacramento History Museum to mine for gold which you can then cash in at the bank for certificates that can be traded for prizes at participating merchants. Of course, the Trailmix.Net Old Sacramento Store will be participating. Last year we gave away polished rocks – this year we have seashells. So find some gold and come on in to say hi!
In Store Events:
On Saturday, drop by the store between 1:00pm and 3:00pm to meet Mike Graf, author of the popular Adventure with the Parkers series.
On Sunday, visit us between 1-3 to meet April Farnham from Culture2Classroom and learn about life in Old Sacramento before the Gold Rush!
